Each year PALCS will grant several cash awards to deserving seniors who demonstrate innovation, character, and leadership amidst their greater communities. Applications will be received from January 17 until April 1, 2008. Finalists will be chosen from this applicant pool, and will be invited for a personal interview with the awards committee. Scholarships will be broken down into the following format:
1. One Platinum Award, $2,000
2. One Gold Award, $1,000
3. One Silver Award, $500
4. Two Bronze Awards, $250 each
Please include with your application:
a. Transcript showing high school average of 3.0 on of a scale of 4.0; also showing participation in PALCS for at least one full year.
b. Self-analytical evaluation of your “leadership philosophy” using your preferred form, be it art, music, writing, media literacy, or a combination which demonstrate leadership in entrepreneurship, community service or political action. Your project must contain evidence of a public demonstration or presentation where you intended to reach a particular audience.(Directions here purposefully leave room for your own creativity; please ensure presentation is professional.)
c. An accompanying written statement explaining your initiative, submitted using regular 8 1/2” x 11” format, double-spaced, in 12-point font with one inch margins and containing no more than 500 words.
c. One action photo of you demonstrating leadership in your field.
d. Two letters of recommendation from PALCS teachers and one from a community leader who understands your project.
